About
Dominic Furiani has been playing and teaching music professionally since 2010. He began his teaching career at his alma mater, San Dimas High School, as the assistant jazz director. While he was on faculty at SDHS he expanded the jazz program offerings from a single big band to two big bands and four levels of jazz combos. After completing his undergraduate studies in music education he moved to Long Beach to pursue further study in music through the master programs at California State University Long Beach. In 2017 Dominic was afforded the wonderful opportunity to build a new middle school music program with his colleague and dear friend Daniel Ambrosini. Furiani and Ambrosini were able to collaborate with ease and take a non-existent program at a small charter school in Pomona California to an award winning program in three years. While at The School of Arts and Enterprise in Pomona, Dominic was able to focus on teaching and designing curriculum in the musical areas that he is most passionate about; Jazz, Improvisation, Composition and Commercial Music. Soon after relocating to Idaho, Dominic has become one of the top on-call guitarists across the Treasure Valley. Regular performances and his most recent project, a jazz fusion trio called Slight Panache, allow him to maintain a professional level of performance abilities which drive much of his pedagogical focus towards practical skill building for his students. Dominic currently is a fulltime musician and adjunct faculty member for the music department at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa Idaho.
